My favorite place to browse if I need a new idea for a cold weather soup or vegetable dinner. The seafood is the freshest you could ask for and if you’re in the mood for hearty meats this should be your stop. The vegetables are unbeatable. I have tried so many new and delicious foods that I never would have if I hadn’t walked through their doors. And if you crave a delicious dessert, try one of the incredible cakes from Europa Bakery. There are so many amazing items to browse through it will take a good couple of hours to do this store justice.

Great place for lunch. Always hot and fresh Chinese food at lunchtime.
Their croissant breakfast sandwiches are the best ones in Anchorage or Alaska as far as I’m concerned.
They also have a great bakery and pastries.
Seafood selection is top notch.
Staff is always friendly.
Would definitely recommend.

This store is great! They even have frozen durian. The fish selection is better than chain groceries and the to go food is nice.

Great place to shop for hard to find ethnic foods and supplies. If it’s fresh seafood you’re looking for they also have a wide variety of it. The deli has all kind of fresh and to go foods and the coffee shop is one of the best in town. Highly recommend New Sagaya.

Very dirty store, do not use the restroom. Staff is very nice and I would give the staff a 5 but the store is filthy. It doesn’t help that you will be accosted by multiple pan handlers in the parking lot!

I like to go on Fridays for their “$5 Fridays” cause they have the best meat selection n it’s all on sale on Fridays other than that I don’t shop there it’s too expensive

Very nice store. I stopped to just pick up a couple of things for a pot latch. The floors and displays are clean and there is a great selection of produce. The shopping lines are well managed and shoppers are not pressured to purchase a bag if they don’t want or need one. Great place to shop.

The food is just okay, would be a 3star review except the location is excellent for stopping in at lunch for a quick bite, or grabbing something quick to settle the kids so the rest of the shopping can be done in peace. I don’t mean all the food is lacking, they have a few items that are just about perfect, just not everything.

Shopping at any Fred Meyer is great because literally everything can be found under one roof. The midtown location in Anchorage is especially convenient though as it is right on the Seward Highway making it an easy place to turn in and pick up last minute supplies or get gas when headed down the Inlet or the Peninsula. They have a Starbucks, Pharmacy, Jewelers and Electronics, Furniture and Garden Departments (just to name a few). Their prepared foods and sandwiches are delicious and the folks who work there will walk you directly to an item, no matter where it is in the store, if you ask. Extremely friendly and helpful staff members!

Several issues with this location. 1) Lots of pan handlers cruising the parking looking to score; 2) The bathrooms are filthy and need a deep clean; 3) The Starbucks appears to close at a drop of a hat – location is convenient to highway but a huge time waster when you can’t stop for coffee and fuel.
